Cops and Robbers

I would like to commend the bravery of PO1 Jay Catacutan and PO1 Roy Ceniza, the two policemen who first responded to the botched robbery that happened last September 8, 2011 at the Robinson's Mall Cebu City, as well as the two security guards, Leofer Itac and Lito Odac, who were killed during the shootout.

“The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it.” - Thucydides

On the other hand, I would like to censure the stupidity of all the bank robbers involved in the heist. The outcome was deserved and provoked. I do not care if you have had successful robberies before, what happened was a work of an amateur. And amateurs die.

A perfect robbery is when the one being robbed does not know of the crime until after the loot had already been taken and the robbers are long gone -- zero casualties. With the recent events, I am almost to conclude that in this country the only professional criminals are in the government.
