Having said that, last Saturday (September 10, 2011), my boyfriend and I decided to enjoy a meal together at RYAN’S PIZZARELLI HOUSE – thanks to yet another discount coupon I purchased online… So, here goes then my first attempt at this food review articles…
LOCATION
So the address is 181-D Maria Christina Extension, Camputhaw, Cebu City. The nearest landmark would be Sacred Heart School for Girls. It's a bit hard to find if you're not familiar with the area so you just have got to ask for directions.
PLACE AND AMBIANCE
The place looked like an apartment converted into a pizza house, with the interior resembling the size of a sala of a typical Filipino house. The area accommodated four tables of different sizes for dine-in customers. There were not much decorations except for souvenir photographs of their customers pasted in the walls and ceiling, arranged like a wallpaper. I thought it was cute and neat – not the freedom wall-ish type. I even recognized some of my friends’ faces. It was raining hard when we arrived so the place was not full-packed. I suppose customers could also use the parking space in case they can’t be contained inside (tables and chairs were stacked outside when they’re not used). The place isn’t exactly cozy, no fancy lights, no background music whatsoever, but it was comfortable.
There were around five people working when we went there - two women at the counter, two men in the kitchen, and one delivery man. The women were busy taking orders and checking the food preparation so it’s not really the kind of pizza parlor service you get in the mall where these very friendly and entertaining people greet you upon entering their store and take you to your table. With the limited crew the store has, it was of course understandable – not to mention they also had to answer the phone for deliveries and inquiries and clean the tables. We didn’t waste our time waiting to be specially entertained and just went directly to the counter and asked for their menu. Nonetheless, they were still pleasant and approachable.
FOOD AND PRICES
We ordered their MEATY CALZONE (described as ‘all meat’ in their menu). The size could feed 2-3 tummies of average persons (but with the appetite that we have, it was just enough for the two of us). I would say it was delicious. The crust was thick and soft. It also wasn’t overly stuffed with onions. Ryan's Pizzarelli House also offers various flavors of pizzas from your classic Hawaiian to your unconventional Vegan pizza. The prices of their pizzas range from P220 to P360 pesos while their Calzone ranges from P220 to P250 pesos. Not bad for a belly-buster meal!
After considering all of the above, I would give Ryan's Pizzarelli House an 8 out of 10 rating. It's a refreshing alternative to the usual Pizza places in town. So if you're craving for pizza and you don't want to drown yourself in grease and/or onions with the usual -- Ryan's Pizzarelli House is the place to be.
