DSLR 101: Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO

With the availability and affordability of some DSLR cameras, a lot of people now have engaged themselves in Photography and two years ago I was one of them. Now as I see people taking their D800s or 5Ds in the mall on auto mode, I just can't help but feel disappointed on such wasted potentials. It's not for me to judge though, for some having an expensive DLSR camera is more of a status symbol other than anything else. However, I do appreciate those few who actually gives a damn on learning how to properly use their awesome machines.

Two years ago, when I bought my first DSLR camera I had no one to teach me how to use it so like many others I settled using the AUTO mode. However, I knew that I was wasting the cameras potentials so I decided to learn more about it and what all those buttons actually mean. Most of the skills I learned about the craft came from actual experiences when I joined other veteran photographers during shoots, but for the basics I got most of them through Youtube. You can be surprised how much knowledge you can get from that website.

Now, whenever friends ask me how to use their newly bought DSLRs I just refer them to the same resources I used when I was starting out. However, with the millions of videos and tutorials online it can sometimes be too overwhelming. So, to help out I've decided to just compile all those tutorials here. Though I wish post my own tutorials but seeing my face on video might just scare you away so instead I'll be posting tutorials and videos from other much experienced photographers, the same ones who helped me from the start up until now.

This introduction has been long enough so without further adieu allow me to introduce to you Nico Mojica as he presents to you the basics. Here's DSLR 101: Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO
