I gotta say I love this band and now they have released a new video for their song "Never Look Back". Amazing vocals by front woman Marissa Dattoli and a very impressive arrangement of the entire song reminiscent of modern punk rock genre most notably popularized by Paramore. However, these guys are the new generation and they are turning up the volume! Make way for CRYSTALYNE!

Part of Me

As some of you guys might already know, I left Cebu a couple of months ago and came back home to Cagayan de Oro. I left a lot of things I love their including my girlfriend but we promised to visit each other every chance we got. And during these precious times we try to enjoy every second of it not knowing when we are going to see each other again. So among the things that we love to do when we're together is make video covers of songs that we like and that's what I want to share with you guys today. We made this one a couple of weeks ago when she came here to visit. I hope you enjoy it.

KUTLESS - Featured Artist of the Week

It's been a while since my last entry for our featured artist of the week; I have just been a bit busier than normal lately. Anyhow, I believe it's right about time I do another one this week. For our featured artist of the week I went back to my early college days when I had my binder notebooks covered with bible verses and pictures of contemporary bands. During those times, when instead of an iPod, I had my trusty walkman play DC Talk and Jars of Clay.

Christian Contemporary music has come a long way since the 90s and one particular band stood out from my playlist. Kutless is a Christian rock band from Portland, Oregon formed in 1999. Since then the band has made a strong name for itself currently selling 2 millions records. The one thing I love about this band and why I think they stand out from the rest is how their songs "reflect the ways these men are growing in spirit, in creativity, and into one of today’s most exciting, thoughtful rock-meets-worship collectives".

TYLER WARD: Featured Artist of the Week

Tyler Ward is an American independent singer/song writer, producer, and Youtube sensation known for his covers of songs by artists including Adele, Maroon 5, Justin Bieber and Jason Mraz. The first time I heard of Tyler was when I looking for the music video of Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" and the first video that was on the search result was Tyler Ward's cover. Curious, I opened the link and became a fan ever since.

Personally, I like how Tyler arranges his covers and make it his own. Fans even say that some of his versions are way better than the originals and I agree with them. His collaborations with other independent artist and fellow Youtubers such as Megan Nicole, Alex G, and Julia Sheer to name a few are among the most viewed videos in Youtube.

THE LETTER BLACK: Featured Artist of the Week

I first heard of the band The Letter Black when their song "Hanging by a Thread" was played in one of the rock FM stations in the city. Biased with rock bands with girl fronts, I quickly researched about the group and I was surprised that they are actually a Christian band.

Formerly known as Breaking the Silence, The Letter Black actually started out as a praise team at their local church with Sarah Anthony and her husband Mark Anthony as a duo on vocals. Later when they were signed to Tooth and Nail Records (P.O.D., The OC Supertones, FM Static) they changed the name of the band to "The Letter Black". During an interview with author Rebecca Cicione, the band explained that the name "The Letter Black" actually came out of a joke. Their manager was joking around with the guy from [the band] Helmet. And he was like “a band name doesn’t have to be some deep, meaningful thing.” And they were like “it could be the letter black!”.

CRYSTALYNE: Featured Artist of the Week

Taking a rest from all the rants about the Cybercrime Prevention Act, I decided to do a new segment here which I uniquely call "Featured Artist of the Week". As the title not-so-obviously states, I will be featuring one artist per week may it be a singer, band, or a photographer, etc. My choice will solely depend on my personal taste or lack thereof.

So to start with, I first heard of Marissa Dattoli from her cover of Paramore's Monster in Youtube and thought that she was just awesome. After her first band, Good & Broken, seemingly vanished into thin air leaving a large following of fans craving for more, front woman Marrisa quickly found herself a new band through mutual friends and Crystalyne was born.
