Steve Jobs invented and successfully marketed gadgets that transformed everyday technology making Apple a household name. From the first Macintosh computer to the Ipad and even with the recent recession and his own failing health, Jobs still managed to steer the Apple brand laps ahead the others. After the breakthrough of 2000 with the release of the Ipod, other brands and manufacturers had it nearly impossible to take a bite from Apple's technological pie.
Apple’s success behind the leadership of Steve Jobs is no secret. Steve Jobs is a master reinventor. ‘Under Jobs, Apple didn't invent computers, digital music players or smartphones — it reinvented them for people who didn't want to learn computer programming or negotiate the technical hassles of keeping their gadgets working’, according to Yahoo news. Jobs himself stated in an interview, “We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas”. Ever since the company started in the 1970s, Apple had copied and improved on ideas from such companies as Atari, Xerox, and even Microsoft among others and this had become one of their strong points in the market.
Another key to Apple’s success under Jobs is their cloak of secrecy with their product development coupled with Jobs' uncanny ability to create a demand where it didn’t exist. This had been proven true with the release of the Ipad, which took off with frenzy even though market analysts said that no one really needed one. With every new product that Apple releases, people queue around blocks just to get a chance to buy one. Apple had created a cult following elevating Steve Jobs to an almost godlike status in the techno-savvy world.
But now that Steve Jobs has passed on the torch to Apple’s current CEO and former VP-corporate materials for Compaq, Tim Cook, will Apple continue its supremacy or will it see a repeat of the 1985 incident (Jobs first left Apple due to management issues which almost led the company to the brink of bankruptcy)? Will the Apple tree still grow without its root who is Steve Jobs?
