Five Movies I Want To Watch in 2012

Last year, I listed the movies that I wanted to watch before 2011 ended. Now, let me share to you the movies that I am looking forward to seeing this 2012.

First on my list is The Expendables 2. Our 80's action star ensemble returns for the second time after their successful "reunion" in the first movie. I enjoyed watching the first Expendables movie as it brought back memories of my childhood when my late father and I used to watch all these actors before. I commend Stallone for reuniting the cast and somehow reigniting the 80's 'strong man' action movie genre. I am excited with The Expendables 2 since two of my favorite action stars, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris, are joining the team! Arnold and Willis are also back and I just hope that the four of them have more than cameo roles. Now, will Steven Segal be on the 3rd installment? The Expendables 2 hits theaters in August. Here's the trailer:

The second movie on my list is The Avengers. I've already written a couple of post about this and I don't think I still have more to say about this movie. I will say this though -- after watching all the individual stories of these superheroes, it just feels incomplete if you're not gonna see how it all comes together. So mark your calendars on May 4 when this movie hits the theaters.

The third on my list is another superhero movie, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. Christopher Nolan has done an excellent job retelling the Batman series and I have no doubt that this third installment will deliver the same action-packed-no bullshit-no-nippled-batsuit Batman movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the last two movies and I have to say that it made the Batman character somehow believable. The Dark Knight Rises is said to be the conclusion of Nolan's Batman Saga, I am curious if it will follow the comic story line where Bane paralyzes Batman in the end. There's only one way to tell. The Dark Knight will rise on the 20th of July. For a quick trivia about this movie click HERE.

Fourth on my list is Skyfall. Skyfall is the 23rd Bond movie and is set to be released on November this year. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench will reprise their roles as Bond and M respectively and they will be joined by Bérénice Marlohe and Naomie Harris as the new Bond girls. Spanish actor and Penelope Cruz's hubby Javier Bardem will play the villain in the movie. I'm pretty much excited to see this movie since I think that Daniel Craig is one of the best actors who has portrayed the Bond character. And of course, I can't wait to see the car.

And the last movie on my list I would have to say is the one that I am most excited about. I have followed the manga series of this movie and I have been intrigued by how the story perfectly mixes history and fantasy like a good bottle of Sake. I am talking about the Rurouni Kenshin the live action movie! Popularly known as Samurai X, the story is about an assassin named Himura Kenshin who becomes a wanderer to protect the people of Japan. It is set during the Meiji period of Japan. It is said that most of the characters in the story including the lead as well as events are loosely based on real historical figures and facts during that period. The movie is set to be released August of this year. For more information about the movie, click HERE.
