TIKTIK: The Aswang Chronicles

Arguably the best Pinoy movie (special effects wise) I've seen so far, Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles is dubbed as the most anticipated movie of the year boasting of special effects at par to Avatar and Lord of the Rings. The entire movie was said to have been shot behind a green screen inside an abandoned warehouse that provided the dark mood of the film which, basing on the trailer, had some influences in HDR.

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles follows the story of Makoy (Dingdong Dantes) who after visiting her pregnant girlfriend Sonia (played by the ever sexy Lovi Poe) in her remote hometown, gets into trouble with a group of townsfolk who transform themselves into terrifying monsters called Tiktik. I'm not sure why they named the monster after inguinal dirt but apparently that's what they call them in the Bacolod where Director Erik Matti is from.

The plot of the movie is simple enough clearly a sign that the producers wanted this movie to be more visually entertaining among other reasons. However, kudos to the writers and the rest of the creative team for coming up with a monster movie with more than the shock factor.

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles is set to be released on October 17. Follow the countdown on its website HERE
